A recent survey of college and university presidents published by Inside Higher Ed and Gallup confirms the sentiment that these are not normal times. Presidents are questioning the viability of current business models at non-elite private colleges. Most of them believe that there will continue to be more closures and mergers as financial pressure increases. There is also concern among private college leaders about meeting enrollment and retention targets, which are two main contributors to institutional financial health.
